April 2016 – A Stuttering Start
Welcome back to members, friends of the club, and everyone involved in Wiltshire cricket. I hope you are all looking forward to a fun-filled Summer ahead – let’s hope we get a better run of weather than we’ve had so far in April.
Swindon B XI’s season at Avebury kicks off on the 30th of April; ours (after the cancellations) starts the following day against Alexandra Park.
It will be a tough season for the square, with around 40 Avebury CC fixtures scheduled for 2016 as well as the 9 being played through the Swindon B connection, so let’s pray for fine weather and the right a mount of rain as we move into the season proper!
Junior Coaching 2016
Junior coaching at Avebury will start on Friday 13th May at 6.00pm and will run on a weekly basis for a minimum of 12 weeks, targeting the 6 to 13 year old age groups. Coaching is run by a team of 4 – but we would welcome any locals willing to help out. The focus is on developing skills and having fun. If you know anyone with children who would be interested, please pass on their details to us via the contacts section.

End of Season Highlights (Winter 2015)
- Last year: Played 32, Won 19, Cancelled 5, Lost 10.
- This year: Played 39, Won 26, Cancelled 5, Lost 8.
- Our best season for a long time. We haven’t had more wins in a season since 2009. We did well in our league, but losing the first THREE games of the season was NOT great!
- More to follow after the event.
