Welcome to Avebury Cricket Club!

Thank you for visiting our home page. At the time of writing, England have just won the World Cup and Avebury's cricketers are getting close to their 40th match of the 65 game season. It's been a belter, and the addition of a Junior Section has added much to our life as a Club, with now thriving Under-9 and Under-11 sections alongside our adult league and adult friendly teams. Thanks so much to all of you for your support! In the meantime, work continues on the construction of the new pavilion, which we sincerely hope will be ready at some point this season. All offers of financial support greatly received - please see the contacts pages for more details!

About Us

Based in North Wiltshire, we are a family oriented cricket club, playing around 70 matches a season in a variety of formats - two Saturday league XIs, a friendly midweek XI, a competitive midweek XI and a Sunday Friendly XI.  Our membership includes over 70 adults, and 40 juniors in a growing junior section. Our 1st XI plays in Division One of the Wiltshire League, in which we've proudly competed since 2002. Our goal is to play competitive cricket in a friendly manner; and friendly cricket in a meaningful manner.  The website contains ways in which you can contact members of the Committee; directions to our ground; some brief histories of the Club (told, as always, by the victors!) and sporadic snippets of information about our past.

How to Get In Touch With Us

As with so many sports clubs in recent years, our digital and social media presence has expanded to take many forms: a private Facebook site; a Twitter feed; a Pitchero Club web-site; and a PlayCricket website.  This web-site is still active, but we've moved a lot of the members-only content onto Facebook and other social media. Occasionally, at the request of our lawyers. In the meantime: Prospective players, sponsors, teams looking for fixtures, or anyone looking to hire the worlds best sports ground adjacent to a 4,500 year old ancient monument, should get in touch.

"Press On"

“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and Determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and will always solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge
